iContact Community Beta

The iContact Community is in Beta testing. I had the opportunity to visit and check it out. The basis for this site is to provide a place for small to mid-size businesses and customers to meet. Members can write articles on which they are knowledgeable. These articles are then voted on and commented on by members of the community. There are RSS feeds so if you find a writer you like you can keep up with his or her writing.

Members who don’t own a business can communicate to business owners their wants and needs. They can comment or vote and let them know if the like something or not. Both can join the forum where there’s even more give and take.

There are many different forums available like Arts, Health, Non-Profits, Religion, hobbies, politics and much more. When you visit the site you can learn right away how to become a member and read articles too.

I began in the Religion forum. There are articles about may different typed of religions including Catholic, Hindu, Lutheran and even Christian musicians. I enjoyed reading an article from MaxLucado.com, named The Touch of God. I learned about how when we surrender ourselves to God we can be used in marvelous ways!

iContact is still in testing and there are some bumps in the road. I wonder about some of the articles being copied from other sources. There should be some type of system in place that before an article is posted as someone’s own writing that there is some research done to see if that is correct. Having a site of plagarized materials won’t help iContac’t reputation. Also some of the articles did not seem to fit in the forums they’re posted to. That gets a bit annoying when you’re looking to read about Health but find information on how to make money.

With some more tweaking iContact may get a lot of members to join and share ideas.
