Hubby and I are trying some new behavior modification tools on Peanut. She has trouble sleeping on school nights and has been having some issues with going to school. We’re trying to nip this in the bud before it gets worse.
For this past week she’s fallen asleep every night before 10 PM. Most nights it’s been around 9. We’ve added some activity to her schedule to get her moving and hopefully making her feel tired.
Her school has been so helpful. They’ve had to deal with her crying in the mornings or not wanting to get out of the car to go to school. They set up a meeting with her teacher, guidance counselor, Vice Principal, School Psychologist and School Social Worker.
With their advice we’ve made some changes at home. We’re going to tie it into school so that she sees the connection. Her not sleeping is causing her to be distracted and although her grades are excellent, she’s not finishing her work in school. Monday morning we both go to visit her teacher, who’s a gem, to get a behavior chart to use to reinforce her good behavior.
We also switched pediatricians because we were not getting any assistance from our previous one. All we’d get were nasty remarks and an attitude, even towards Peanut. The new doctor saw her for the first time today and it was awesome. He is getting her started on seeing an Allergist to have her tested. He feels that there may be allergies causing some of her stomach issues, which has been a complaint of hers.
We’ve been blessed with caring teachers and staff at Peanut’s school. They just make us feel wonderful but most importantly they want Peanut happy and healthy and learning.
