Help Wanted – Pastor

My church has been without a permanent Pastor for over 6 months now. We finally hired an interim Pastor so we don’t have to look for someone to do our services each Sunday. But not having a “real” Pastor has been tough. We’re losing members, some of our regular ministries are having difficulty keeping it together and we’re also losing income from regular members or visitors who tithe or give offerings.

When you rely on a Pastor for your spiritual guidance too and don’t have one, it’s hard personally. I’ve had to go to another Pastor a few times (thank goodness that I feel comfortable with him as I’ve known him for about 3 years) for some personal issues. But for many of our members they don’t have that outlet. Some don’t feel comfortable talking to our Elders about personal issues. It’s an odd thing but it just feels weird.

Finally this Sunday we have a candidate coming. He’s very interested in serving our church. That’s unusual because we’re a very small church with many elderly members and not many young families. We can’t seem to get new people to join us after all of the things we’ve tried in outreach. It’s gotten even worse since we’ve been without a leader.

He feels that he’s been led by God to us. I pray that he is. I’ve been a member for almost 11 years and pray that we find someone soon, that we don’t have to close my church home. So please pray for us. We can really use it.

    Fellow Jesus Freak,

I pray for you and your church. May our God that sent His Son to die for our mess uplift you and encourage you with hope and love. Knowing this above all else, that nothing happens to us whom believe without it benefiting those that are chosen to testify of His goodness and grace. Have faith then seeing that His will is our welfare and we are His children. Have peace then holding fast in firm conviction that all is well and nothing can or shall by any means harm us. Amen?

    In His service,
    Steve

    Pastor Al Brodbent says:

God will lead the right man to you if you are diligent in your porayer. What is important is that you realize that growing the church is not the most important part. Look for a man that will “minister to those in the pews” and not worry about those who aren’t. When he is in God’s will, and you don’t grow, God will take care of your needs. I am in that situation and God has done a good job of ministering to my family’s needs as well as the church members feeling good about our ministry. Bro. Al
