Today starts a new week – as if you didn’t know. But for someone with so many chronic illnesses I sometimes forget them, today is a fresh start. This past week hasn’t been so good for me. I’ve had a lot of issues with fatigue, overly dry eyes and pain. At church today people even commented that I didn’t look myself. That’s very unusual for me. It’s been ages since I’ve heard that.
So I’m going to bed early tonight. Tomorrow I’ll get back to my list in my planner. That makes my life feel a bit more organized plus I can prioritize what’s really important. If I can’t get to the fluff then it’s ok to put it off. I’ll be planning and partially cooking dinner earlier in the day (if I feel up to it) and doing at least one load of laundry each morning.
These are my tricks of the trade. We all need them if we can’t predict what we’ll feel like in a few hours or a few days.
Here’s some more of my tricks:
1. Put all appointments, bill payment dates, birthdays, etc. in my planner and on my online calendar
2. Always have enough gas in the car. Never let it go down to empty.
3. Have bottles of water, artificial tears, Oasis Spray and chapstick ready for any time I leave my home.
4. Carry my medication list with me at all times as well as have my Med-Alert Bracelet up to date.
5. If I start to feel like I’m pushing myself, rest a bit and see how I feel after. If it continues, either stop completely or work in small parts.
6. Always have a phone near by even when I use the bathroom or take a shower.
I’ll keep adding to this as I think of more things.
