Hugging my kids

This Virginia Tech shooting really made me wanna hug my dd’s today. It was easy to hug Peanut as I picked her up from school this afternoon. But I couldn’t hug Lady Ali who is living away from home at UCF. Couldn’t let her know I just needed to hear her voice because she’d get all “oh Moooommm” on me. So I made an excuse about needing some info for taxes – yeah we’re mailing them tomorrow, to call her.

When you have a 20 year old you have to be very careful of the words you choose. When she’s a brainiack it makes it even harder. I’m lucky I can remember how to get to Peanut’s school so being careful speaking is an effort. Well worth it though. Her laughs are the best!

  1. I must admit, it made me rethink some of my parenting. Every time something like this happens, I reevaluate what I am doing. I just pray that he never turns out to be “one of those kids”…and I hugged him a little tighter for it, too.
